CLARIFICATION ABOUT WHEAT STRAW-PLASTIC HANGERS

2019-07-16

One of our customers was not quite clear about the wheat straw-plastic hangers we recently began to sell. After receiving some samples we sent them, they sent us an e-mail asking for the exact features of these hangers and their contribution to the environment. They also included the link with the news item on which we reported about these wheat straw-plastic hangers.

His message let us feel very touched. As businesspeople, we are not the experts scientists are, and we didn’t expect any problem would arise. We simply transferred our knowledge to that time on the news, without considering the customer's concerns and problems.

The news we published didn’t solve our customer’s doubts. Our explanations were casual. Thus, instead of clarifying, they brought more confusion to our customer. Hangers are simple products, but the use of materials for protecting the environment is a serious matter. In response to the questions raised by our customer, we have amended this news item as much as we can.

Environmentally friendly degradable wheat straw-plastic raw material and wheat straw hangers

Hangers can be produced using different raw materials. Plastic hangers take a big share among the items we produce and sell. The materials commonly used are PP, PS, PVC, and ABS. These are the materials traditionally used in the production of plastic hangers. The raw materials can be divided into environmentally-friendly materials, non environmentally-friendly materials, and recyclable materials. Among all environmentally-friendly raw materials, the hanger products made of plastic pellets are the least harmful for the environment. According to the data we obtained, other than in the nature, the total degradation period takes about 10-20 years. This reduces to a great extent the harm of plastic products to the nature.

Wheat straw-plastic hangers are a new type of environmentally-friendly plastic hangers that has emerged just this year. These hangers are made by mixing wheat straw-plastic and PP/PS in a certain proportion. The wheat straw-plastic pellet raw material is a new raw material developed from rice straw, which can degrade 100% into soil. However, due to its own limitations, in order to produce hangers with a load capacity of about 6 pounds, a certain proportion of other plastic pellets must be added. The cost is similar to that of ordinary green plastic hangers, and the service life of the hangers is not affected. However, due to the significant reduction in the amount of harmful plastics, the environmental hazard of a hanger is reduced by at least 25% in comparison with conventional plastic hangers. For clothing customers who care for the environment, this new option represents a very good choice.

As a Chinese saying states, no matter whether big or small, even the smallest benefit deserves support. As a professional foreign trade company that started to supply hangers worldwide in 2005, Qingdao Head International Products Co., Ltd. is very active in promoting this new type of plastic hangers. We thank all those interested in supporting environmentally-friendly hangers.

We include the previous news item related to wheat straw-plastic hangers:

NEW DEGRADABLE RAW MATERIAL FOR CLOTHES HANGERS

As professional clothes hangers suppliers, we know the prejudices people have against plastic, and thus, against our plastic hangers. First of all, plastic is not degradable, for which reason plastic hangers are not the best option for the environment. This fact also contributes to the lower sales rate of plastic hangers in comparison with hangers of other materials.

We have always tried to find eco-friendly solutions to meet the requirements of all type of customers and, obviously, to contribute to protect our planet. That’s why we already included recyclable hangers, such as cardboard hangers, in our range of products.

In addition, we also include a range of bamboo hangers. As matter of fact, bamboo regenerates much faster than other plants, so that using this material causes less harm to the planet.

Now, we are happy to communicate the finding of a new eco-friendly material which, on top of its benefits for the environment, is also very resistant: degradable wheat straw. This material offers the possibility to produce semi-degradable or fully degradable clothes hangers to meet the specific requirements of every customer.

This type of raw material is already well-known in China. It is very popular in the market and it was originally used mainly for the production of kitchen products.

Considering its eco-friendly properties, we realized about its potential as a raw material for clothes hangers.

After discovering this material, we just contacted our co-operating plastic factory, we jointly created many new models, and we tested their hardness, load-bearing capacity and outward features.

The most relevant results proved that hangers of this material are a bit lighter than conventional plastic hangers. However, they show a sufficient load-bearing resistance. Due to the material itself, the color of the end product cannot be totally uniform, since smalls wheat particles remain. However, these small particles give the garments a different touch.

After all this, we concluded that this material could perfectly replace conventional plastic, and even become the leading raw material in this new generation of clothes hangers.

Natural wheat straw plastic is made of wheat, rice husk and other green, eco-friendly materials. It has the same performance as the common plastic, and it is used for the manufacture of all types of plastic products. The first grade of this material consists of wheat straw fiber polylactic acid + PP, as well as wheat straw fiber + PE. This material is semi-degradable.

Now, we have found a material which consists of 62% wheat fiber granules, 17.6% PBAT, and 17.6% PLA. This material is fully degradable. Preserved indoor under sealed conditions, it can last up to more than 12 months.

Obviously, it will allow us to produce eco-friendly alternatives without therefore sacrificing the resistance and good properties of the other, conventionally used, materials.
